5 Technologies That Are Changing The Face of Health Care

Healthcare Technologies

Health care is a necessity for every person on the planet. While the specifics may look different around the world, there’s no doubt that new technologies are changing the face of medicine for the better – from AI to virtual reality and beyond. Thanks to these five technologies, diagnosis, treatment, quality of life, and previously thought impossible surgeries are being completed. Let’s learn more!

Technologies That Are Changing The Health Care

1. X-Ray Equipment

X-ray equipment has long been hailed as a game-changer in medical practices. Thanks to this innovation, unseen illnesses can be treated and found early, improving chances of recovery and well-being.

With companies like Maven Imaging, this state-of-the-art technology provides accurate and refined imaging. The vast variety of X-ray equipment across medical practices – including hospitals, veterinary clinics, dentist surgeries, and chiropractic practices – demonstrates X-rays as an invaluable resource.

Now, with options in portability and hand-held devices, X-rays can be used in war zones and reach previously hard-to-reach patients.

2. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

While artificial intelligence often feels “alien”, it’s a valuable asset to the medical world. From diagnosing patients to transcribing medical documents, AI is a vital tool in the health care system.

Doctors now utilize AI to help diagnose previously complicated and time-sensitive conditions, such as in stroke patients or monitoring drops of oxygen in fetuses.

3. 3D Printing

People often associate 3D printing with the manufacturing of cars, clothes, or smaller gadgets. Its uses are limitless! However, 3D printing truly shines in the world of healthcare.

Thanks to 3D printing, doctors have created skin for burn victims and reconstructed faces for cancer patients or vehicle crash survivors. Without 3D printing, orthopedic implants wouldn’t be nearly as effective, nor would the developments in dentistry have been made.

4. Virtual Reality (VR)

You may have seen Virtual Reality, or VR, advertised as a fun family activity, escaping to unknown worlds or playing roleplaying games. However, VR has had a significant impact on health care. Using Virtual Reality, surgeons can now practice performing surgeries first without risk to their patients.

In 2022, a pair of conjoined twins separated thanks to VR technology. In an incredibly complicated modern-day surgery, their surgeons performed a 27-hour operation. Without the help of Virtual Reality, this dangerous separation procedure would’ve been riskier for the pair.

5. Monitors

It’s not just monitors on our phones that can track our steps and lead to healthier lifestyles! Recent developments in monitors have meant some people with diabetes no longer have to endure the arduous processes of measuring their insulin levels through a blood sample.

With a CGM (continuous glucose monitor), a worn sensor measures glucose levels. Those with low insulin then track their glucose levels on their smartphones; an alarm goes off when levels get too high or low. Thanks to these monitors, those with chronic conditions can have a better quality of life.

Final Thoughts

The healthcare field is constantly evolving and improving, thanks to exciting innovations like X-rays, 3D printing, and Virtual Reality – pointing to a brighter future for all.
