AMD Announces Launch of Ryzen Pro 7000 Series CPUs
AMD has made a groundbreaking announcement with the launch of its latest generation of Ryzen Pro 7000 Series CPUs, featuring the Ryzen Pro 7040 processors. This new lineup brings the powerful Zen 4 architecture to AMD’s business-oriented Ryzen platform, delivering increased performance, better energy efficiency, longer battery life, and the debut of the Ryzen AI engine.
In response to the growing trend of hybrid working models, AMD’s new Ryzen Pro series includes both mobile and desktop processors, reflecting the changing market priorities. The new series boasts six mobile models and three for desktop, all offering either 6 or 8 cores and the ability to reach peak clock speeds of around 5GHz.
The Ryzen Pro 7000 series offers distinct models catering to diverse user needs. The “HS” models are the highest-performing of the range, while the “U” models cater to the thinnest, low-power notebook designs. On the other hand, the desktop SKUs include more cache, with each of the three models designed to target different performance needs. These desktop models come in 6, 8, and 12 core variants, and clock a bit higher than their mobile counterparts.
The new series is not only efficient but also outperforms its rivals. In a direct comparison with Intel Core i7-1370P, AMD claims that the Ryzen Pro 7000 series is 12% faster, uses 15% less power, and offers 29% better performance per watt when running applications like Microsoft Office or video conferencing software. AMD’s Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U even claims to surpass the battery life of Apple’s most power-efficient chip, all while running on a smaller battery.
