Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition Returns for 2024 with New Upgrades
The 2024 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition, initially set for a limited run during its first model year, will continue to charm enthusiasts as it makes a return to U.S. showrooms later this year. Toyota announced minor tweaks and upgrades to this hot hatchback, hinting at a robust response to strong demand for the GR Corolla.
Initially launched in 2023, the GR Corolla was limited to 1,500 units for the U.S. market. The GR Corolla lineup includes the base GR Corolla Core grade and the Morizo Edition, the latter named after a nickname for outgoing CEO Akio Toyoda. The Circuit Edition, slotting between these two, proved popular enough for Toyota to extend its availability into 2024. Toyota has not confirmed if the Morizo Edition will make a return, but chances are slim.
The 2024 GR Corolla Circuit Edition sports several notable modifications. First up is the introduction of a new Blue Flame exterior color option, making the Circuit Edition available in two colors along with the white hue known as Ice Cap. Inside the vehicle, the blue theme continues with blue accents for the suede and synthetic leather seats, a blue-trimmed shift knob, and blue accent stitching.
Among the updates are forged aluminum 18-inch BBS wheels, similar to the wheels from the 2023 Morizo Edition, and an eight-speaker JBL audio system, both now standard features. Toyota engineers also made subtle changes to improve aerodynamic performance. The front air duct’s shape was modified, and aluminum sheets were added to the front and rear bumpers. The aim of these tweaks was to reduce static electricity from the bumper. Furthermore, adjustments were made to certain mounting bolts for the front and rear subframes, replacing them with wider bolts. In addition, materials used in the steering gear, rear suspension, and battery ground underwent changes.
Despite these changes, the powertrain remains unchanged. The G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbo-3 engine continues to deliver 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive.
Toyota has not yet confirmed whether the production of the GR Corolla will be capped at a certain number of units for 2024. The automaker has previously indicated that production will be increased and may even extend the Circuit Edition’s availability into the 2025 model year if demand remains strong.
Details about the other two trim levels of the 2024 GR Corolla, likely similar to the 2023 Core and Morizo Edition models, are expected to be revealed later on. Pricing details for the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition remain undisclosed, with further information to be released closer to its arrival in U.S. showrooms this winter.
