Apple’s Cheaper Vision Headset Rumored to Launch in 2026 for $2,000

Apple’s Cheaper Vision Headset Rumored to Launch in 2026 for $2,000

Apple is reportedly working on a more affordable version of its Apple Vision headset, with a target price of around $2,000. This lower-cost model is expected to be released in 2026, alongside a successor to the high-end Apple Vision Pro. This would offer consumers a more budget-friendly alternative to the current Apple Vision Pro, which is priced at $3,499.

According to Bloomberg reports, the cheaper version will have several differences from the Apple Vision Pro, starting with its internal hardware. The budget-friendly model will likely use an A-series chip, similar to those found in future iPhone models, in place of the M2 chip that powers the Apple Vision Pro. Additionally, it is expected to feature lower-resolution screens and a lighter design, making it more comfortable to wear for extended periods.

One of the key features that may be omitted in the cheaper model is Apple’s Eyesight technology, which allows people nearby to see the wearer’s eyes through a special lenticular display. This feature, unique to the Apple Vision Pro, is expected to be dropped to reduce the cost of the new device.

Despite the cost-saving measures, Apple anticipates the more affordable headset will sell well, potentially outselling the Apple Vision Pro by a ratio of 2 to 1, due to its lower price point. This would give Apple a stronger foothold in the AR/VR market by offering a range of devices at different price levels.

Alongside this budget-friendly model, Apple is also developing a new iteration of the Apple Vision Pro. This next-generation Pro model is expected to see some upgrades, particularly in processing power, though other changes are likely to be minimal. Both devices are slated for release sometime in 2026.

In addition to its Vision headset plans, Apple is also said to be working on its long-awaited augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, which may debut in the coming years. These glasses would likely be a more lightweight and accessible option, similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban Stories, which integrate cameras, microphones, and speakers into a pair of everyday eyewear.
