Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023: Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Filp 5 launch in July
Samsung has announced that it will host the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event in Seoul, South Korea, marking the first time the event is held in this location. The event is scheduled to take place in late July, during which the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to debut.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is anticipated to feature a new waterdrop hinge design that could minimize the crease on the foldable screen. It’s also expected to run on a faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and could be the thinnest Fold design yet from Samsung. The camera specs might remain the same, but improvements in computational photography and camera features are hoped for.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, it is likely to have a larger cover display, which will allow users to do more without having to open the phone. It’s also expected to have the same speedy Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip as the Galaxy S23 series. The Z Flip 5 could offer a new hinge design to prevent the display from creasing and may be built using lighter materials.
Rumors suggest the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be announced on July 26 and ship on August 11. The design might be similar to the Z Fold 4, with the main changes being a new waterdrop hinge design that lets the two halves sit flush, and potentially a brighter screen than its predecessor. The device might also have a water and dust resistance rating of IP68, rather than the current model’s IPX8. It is expected to be slightly thinner and lighter than the Z Fold 4, but won’t have any significant spec upgrades. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to have a 6.2-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main screen that’s brighter than its predecessor’s, with a 120Hz refresh rate on both displays.
Please note that these details are based on leaks and rumors, and the official specifications and features of the devices will only be confirmed once they are officially announced by Samsung.
