Gemini Live Rolls Out to Samsung Phones Ahead of Pixel 9 Launch

Gemini Live Rolls Out to Samsung Phones

Google’s advanced AI assistant, Gemini Live, is now available on Samsung smartphones and tablets. These devices will be among the first to access this cutting-edge technology before the official launch of the Pixel 9 series.

Early Access for Samsung Devices

During the Pixel 9 series announcement, Google revealed that Gemini Live, an enhanced version of its Gemini AI assistant, would soon be available on both Pixel and Samsung devices. Just a day after the announcement, the rollout of Samsung smartphones and tablets has begun. However, access to Gemini Live is limited to users who have subscribed to the paid version of Gemini.

A New Level of Interaction

Gemini Live allows for continuous conversations, mimicking the natural flow of human dialogue. Users can interrupt the assistant to seek more information and return to the original topic seamlessly. Although Gemini Live does not yet support extensions to other Google services like Calendar, Drive, or Gmail, these integrations are expected to arrive in the coming months.

Interface and Features

The user interface of Gemini Live is designed to be clean and intuitive, occupying the full screen while still displaying other apps in the background. Users can choose from ten different voice options and customize their experience with settings like ‘Interrupt Live Responses.’ Currently, Gemini Live supports only English, with additional language support planned for future updates.

Samsung’s AI Ambitions

As Gemini Live gains traction on Samsung devices, Samsung’s own AI assistant, Bixby, has lagged behind competitors like Apple’s Siri and Google’s Gemini. However, Samsung has announced plans to upgrade Bixby with LLM-powered enhancements later this year, significantly improving its ability to understand natural language commands. This upgrade is expected to coincide with the release of the One UI 7.0 update.

With the early rollout of Gemini Live on Samsung devices, Google is expanding its AI capabilities beyond its Pixel series, offering Samsung users a chance to experience the future of digital assistants. As both Google and Samsung continue to innovate, the competition in the AI assistant space is set to intensify, promising exciting developments for users.
