Huawei Launches MateBook X Pro Featuring Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor and Pangu AI Integration
During its spring product launch event, Huawei unveiled the MateBook X Pro, its pioneering AI-powered laptop. Introduced by Consumer BG CEO Yu Chengdong, this device is the first of its kind to feature the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and integrate Huawei’s Pangu large language model, marking a significant technological advancement for the company.

Processor and Build
The MateBook X Pro is exceptionally lightweight, weighing under one kilogram, and is the only laptop in its weight class to include the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor. The 2024 model boasts a 13.4mm thickness and a weight of just 980g, making it lighter than the 13.6-inch Apple MacBook Air.
Battery and Charging
It houses a 70Wh lithium polymer battery with support for 140W fast charging. A brief 10-minute charge can power the laptop for up to three hours, offering considerable efficiency for users on the go.
Display
It features a 14.2-inch OLED screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3,120 x 2,080 pixels. The display offers a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate, and can produce 1.07 billion colors, providing vibrant visuals and smooth transitions.
Performance
Available in two chip variants, the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and the Ultra 7 155H, paired with an Intel Sharp Graphics card. Options include 16GB or 32GB of RAM and 1TB or 2TB of NVMe PCI storage. The high-end Ultra 9 processor supports up to 40W of power to boost performance.
Pricing and Availability
The MateBook X Pro is available in three configurations in China, with prices ranging from RMB 11,199 for the Ultra7 model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage to RMB 14,999 for the Ultra9 model with 32GB RAM and 2TB storage.
AI Capabilities
The laptop is equipped with the Pangu AI model, which supports various AI-driven features such as AI Minutes for rapid recordings, AI Subtitles for real-time text translation, and AI Eyes for photo enhancements.
Despite high anticipation for information about the Huawei P70 flagship smartphone, the event focused solely on the MateBook X Pro. This strategic choice highlights Huawei’s commitment to its laptop line and its integration with advanced AI capabilities through collaborations with industry leaders like Baidu’s ERNIE Bot, WPS AI, and iFLYTEK’s Spark.
