Samsung Unveils Revolutionary 3D Map View for Smarter Home Management
Samsung Electronics has introduced its groundbreaking 3D Map View feature, initially revealed at CES 2024, now globally available to users of its SmartThings platform.
This innovative feature transforms traditional floor plans into interactive 3D models within the SmartThings app, enabling users to manage their home devices—including lighting, temperature, air quality, and energy use—more conveniently and from any location.
Designed to address the complexities of managing an increasing array of connected home devices, the 3D Map View offers a comprehensive, at-a-glance view of one’s entire home.
It dynamically updates as new devices are added, streamlining smart home management by integrating real-time spatial information.
A significant upgrade from its predecessor, the new 3D Map View leverages Spatial AI and LiDAR sensors found in Samsung’s devices, such as the Bespoke Jet Bot™, to create accurate mappings of home layouts.
This enhancement not only simplifies understanding of a home’s spatial dynamics but also enriches the user experience with advanced 3D visualization.
Moreover, the updated feature introduces an improved filter function and anticipates integrating AI characters for a more personalized and intuitive smart home interaction by year’s end.
Expanded Availability and Future Developments
Now accessible through the SmartThings app on both Android and iOS devices, as well as Samsung TVs, Map View’s controls are set to extend to other Samsung smart home hubs, including Family Hub™ refrigerators, in the first half of this year.
Following its initial rollout in Korea and the United States, this feature’s expansion ensures that SmartThings users worldwide can now benefit from enhanced smart home management capabilities.
