WhatsApp to Introduce AI-Powered Image Editing on Android and iOS
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let users edit their photos in exciting ways using artificial intelligence (AI). This upcoming tool will allow people to change their photo backgrounds, tweak parts of the picture, or make the photo bigger, all using AI.
WABetaInfo, a website known for finding new WhatsApp features, saw hints of this AI photo editor in a recent test version of WhatsApp for Android phones. This version isn’t ready for everyone to try yet; it’s still being worked on.
A screenshot from WABetaInfo shows how this feature might look. When sending a photo on WhatsApp, there could be a new green button next to the “HD” option. This button would have editing choices like “Backdrop” to change the background, “Restyle” to change how things in the photo look, and “Expand” to make the picture larger. The exact ways these options will work are still under wraps.
In addition to the photo editor, WhatsApp is also testing another feature where users can talk to Meta’s AI directly through the app’s search bar. This is part of a newer test version for Android and is meant to make WhatsApp even smarter, helping users in more ways.
Both of these features are still in the early stages and aren’t available for everyone yet. They’re being tested and improved first. Soon, beta testers will get to try them out before they’re released to all WhatsApp users, including those on iPhones, making sure everyone gets these new tools.
